A Sad Day for Comedy

Comedians and political pundits from sea to shining sea of this great nation are weeping, filing away their glitter jokes and putting their show tunes libraries in hidden folders in iTunes because Michele Bachmann is not running for re-election.

What? You don’t believe me? Well, have a look-see, pals.

I’m sad the Tea Party Temptress will no longer be around. I won’t miss her politics, but I will miss the endless supply of comedy gold she supplies to people like me. Ted Cruz, Tom Coburn, James Inhofe, Rick Perry and Rand Paul just don’t ooze unintentional comic material the way that Bachmann does.

Now, I need to add a wrinkle. I won’t miss Michele as much as I will miss her Marcus–her beloved pray-the-gay-away psychologist husband/stylist/constant companion and hopefully, First Husband (sigh–someday–somewhere over the rainbow).

SQUEE!

Who knows what the future holds for Michele–ahem–but I must admit that I’m looking forward to her plethora of fab pantsuits on the campaign trail in a couple of years. I look forward to hearing her screech about Vince Foster and Whitewater as a lame attempt to bring Hillary down to her level. That’ll be fun. I just hope I’m covering that campaign.

As for Marcus? Well, there’s this image.

You’re welcome.

(ps: I’ll be the broad pushing the drink cart.)

Totally sexist comment coming up: If Ann Coulter was unattractive, no one would give her airtime or publishing contracts. However, since she has stringy blonde locks that are in dire need of hot oil treatment, everything she spews out of her maw is considered golden. Conservative men now have something else to wank their puds to–instead of their old stand-by: Reagan’s Inauguration Addresses on a loop.
What a horror of human being she is.

King of States!

A man with Down’s Syndrome wrote this incredible response to National Disgrace Ann Coulter, who does not deserve this gentleman’s time of day.

He was far more diplomatic than Ann Coulter deserves, and is dissuading me from publishing the open letter I’d been planning on:

Dear Ann,

Eat shit and die.

Best,
Me

I realize that my letter is not very effective as a riposte, so I’m just going to go with “What he said.”

Ladies & gents, Madame Weebles

A must-read post by one of my fave bloggers evah, Madame Weebles.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Also, I strongly suggest you read, follow and worship her blog–totally worth it and you’ll get that warm feeling down there when you do.

[Note: I’m not generally a politics person.  I will probably never write another political post, so I wanted to make this one count.  I’m coming out swinging.  I might lose some readers, and that’s okay.]

Hey, wingnuts.  You don’t know me but you hate me.

I’m from New York City.  To you guys, that’s just another name for Sodom.  Y’all hate us city slickers because we’re not honest, hard-workin’, church-goin’, “real” Amuricans.  Yet my city, along with 3,000 people, took a big hit for you 11 years ago.  Fuck you.

A Very Dumb Man

Writing about Mitt Romney is overwhelming.

(courtesy conservativenewssources.wordpress.com)

Why? Not to be Captain Obvious here, but Mitt is a target-rich environment. I could go on and on about his flip-flop-o-rama on issues such as healthcare, women’s reproductive rights, Medicare, Social Security et cetera, et cetera. But, y’all have seen, heard and shaken your heads in disbelief over his lack of character and integrity. Not to mention his craptastic attitude toward dogs.

Simply put, Gov. Romney is not fit for higher office.

Especially after his comments regarding yesterday’s horrible attacks on the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt and the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya which resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including US Ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens. The Obama Administration, and both Democrat and Republican lawmakers were quick to condemn the attack and subsequent American deaths. President Obama vowed to bring those involved to justice. Nothing political here, just the Commander-in-Chief doing his job.

Enter Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney. Now, protocol has it that during a time such as this when Americans were killed on foreign soil, a presidential candidate would also condemn the actions of a crazed mob and pray for justice, right?

Not so fast.

Instead, Mr. Romney spewed a common GOP talking point: President Obama is constantly apologizing to Muslims — as well as the rest of the world — for our behavior. Never once has this president apologized for American behavior. But, that doesn’t matter to Republicans–you know, the group that has such a hard-on for getting Obama out of office, they’re making up stupid shit on an hourly basis and cock-blocking him on legislation he’s put forth before Congress — even legislation that was initially birthed by the GOP. The problem is, the mouth-breathers who rely on Fox News as their oracle, will never find the courage to actually search for the truth. What these folks “see” is a Kenyan Muslim Socialist Marxist, not a man who saved the US auto industry, gave over 1 million people healthcare thanks to the ACA, killed Bin Laden, and signed the Lilly Ledbetter Act — to name just a few accomplishments.

I have PLENTY of issues with Mr. Obama which I’ll discuss at another time. He’s far from perfect, believeyoume, but he’s a better leader than Mitt Romney.

Here’s a snippet of what Mr. Romney said:

“I think it’s a terrible course for America to stand in apology for our values, that instead when our grounds are being attacked and being breached, that the first response of the United States must be outrage at the breach of the sovereignty of our nation. An apology for America’s values is never the right course.”

Oh boy. When they made you stupid, they made you real stupid, and not to mention, an insensitive choad.

Like I mentioned earlier, bigwigs from his own party think Mr. Romney doth protest too much.

I’m surprised by Mr. Romney’s ignorance and I’m not. He has no foreign policy experience, and in recent weeks has proven that lack thereof over and over again.

Just to give you an idea of how ignint Mr. Romney is, Colin Powell does a nice job of schooling him earlier in year —

What does Mr. Romney do after being criticized about his “oops” by the masters of his own party? He doubles-down, of course. Sad. I’m so glad he doesn’t know the launch codes.

Too bad he can’t retroactively retire today’s comments.

Bunnies & Bachmann

Today’s post will be gripe-lite.

First, this is wicked cute. If a smile doesn’t crack your lips while scrolling through these pix, there’s something wrong with you. Time to call for back up. Or it’s time to start gulping down happy pills if you don’t get it because this is just too damn adorable.

For those of you who are too damn lazy to click through the above link, here are a couple of photos.

Bunneh!

And, this one.

SQUEEEEE!!

I need to weigh in on Michele Bachmann.

Normally, I don’t like to write about politics because I think there are so many others out there who do a better job at political commentary. Some of my close friends keep urging me to write about the political circus because I follow it so closely for work and for fun, and I do have many an in-depth convo with friends & family about the political quagmire this country is in.

Some folks like shopping, but I like politics.

Back to Bachmann.

Why the cray-cray has been dialed up so high with her is beyond me. She’s so full of hate for those different from here and her (lack of) Congressional work speaks volumes. She hates women. She hates gays. She hates minorities–all while she claims over and over that she’s a God-fearing Christian. Her latest “Oops” just proves that she has no business representing the public–not even as county dog catcher. Even though she claims she was joking about God sending the hurricane and earthquake to punish Washington for not curbing spending, it was a dumb, poorly timed “joke.” The more Bachmann and her ilk opine, bitch and moan about God doing this or that because federal dollars are being spent on whatever social program they don’t understand has gotten under their skin, the more I worry about how the line separating church and state is fading away. The positive thing is, she’ll be out of the race by early-winter. That’s my prediction.

Bachmann is a bad idea. She’s bad for women and families. She’s bad for Christians and folks of all faiths. Bachmann is bad for this country. Fortunately, it appears that folks are realizing they don’t like the cray-cray lady and her creepy, gay “curing”  husband.

Now, onto Rick Perry. Give me a few days please.
